    Woot.com Article

Professional writing doesn’t always have to be technical. Some websites such as Woot.com use humor and creativity in their product descriptions for online shopping. On their website, descriptions can range from a 1-4 sentence post, or short fictional pieces centered around the product. I chose to write the latter. In this description, I wrote about the Dark Knight WiFi router, and I saw this as the perfect opportunity to do a humorous, Batman-inspired piece. As a comic book fan, I was excited to write about one of my interests.

    Switcher Technical Writing Guide

In a professional writing exercise, I wrote a tutorial on how to use a switcher for audio/video cables. This connects to a separate project in which I developed a website geared towards retro gaming, so the intended audience for this exercise would be owners of old consoles and video players.

    Amazon Product Page

For this exercise, I wanted to practice some professional writing by creating a product description for an online business. Using what I learned from a coding class, I designed a mock-up for a shopping website and built a test web page using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. I modeled the website layout after an Amazon product page and wrote my own description. I wanted to write about something that was unlikely to appear on Amazon, so I chose an old video game console.
